1. The main idea of Bates essay is to show the connection between humans and how they effect the environment. Humans don’t treat the environment with the sense of respect that they should which leads to environmental issues.
2. Bate establishes a connection between issues of race and gender in the play and environmental issues by suggesting that there is a connection between the issues reguarding race and the issues reguarding the environment. He discusses how environmental issues are as important as racist issues.
